Hi Everyone!
My name is Ben Coulombe and this will be my third MET course. I am a little nervous about this course as, though I consider myself fairly tech savvy when it comes to computers, mobile devices are something I have always struggled with for whatever reason. I was always behind in the last phone trends; when my friends bought Blackberries I had a flip phone. When they all bought IPhones I bought a Blackberry. I am currently using an IPhone 6 that my brother graciously donated to me when he bought an IPhone 11. So this course is really going to push me out of my comfort zone but that is how we learn.
From a personal perspective, I have been a classroom teacher for around 11 years now. I began teaching English as a Second Language at Laurentian University before moving to teach in Russia, Kuwait, and Ecuador. I am currently working for the Waterloo School Board in Ontario while I look for opportunities to break into the EdTech field. In my free time I enjoy reading, exercising, playing and designing video games, and spending as much time as I can with my newborn nephew.
I am very much looking forward to meeting and working with everyone throughout the adventure that I am sure this course will be!
Hi Ben,
I feel you! I have an One Plus 1 phone from 2016 and I don’t plan to upgrade until it busts! I’m also feeling a bit nervous on the structure of this class (blog vs. LMS) but I’m sure we’ll get the hang of it quickly.

Hi Olivia,
I’m with you! Once my phone inevitably blows up, then it will be time for a new one. As it stands, it one step above an expensive paper weight which is good enough for me 🙂
Hi Ben! It is nice to meet you… and someone in Ontario. I lived in Waterloo for 5 years and am now back in the Durham Region :).
Hi Emma,
I love the Waterloo Region. Part of me wishes I could stay, but my wife and I also have aspirations of going back overseas.
Hi Ben,
Cute picture!!!
I’m like you, out of my comfort zone. I have to acknowledge that mobile devices are not my thing, but I’ll try my best. I hope we will find a way to achieve our goals and learn a lot during this semester.
Hi Deisy,
It seems a lot of us are out of our comfort zone. Hopefully this will bring us together as a community as we collectively struggle! 🙂
