Hi everyone!
My name is Braden Litt and I am a fifth-year elementary school teacher in Surrey, BC.
I completed my undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature and my teaching degree at Brock University in St. Catharines, ON, before moving to BC in pursuit of employment. ETEC 523 will be my 5th MET course with UBC.
I have been teaching Grade 6/7 for several years and enjoy incorporating technology throughout my learning. I am particularly interested in how we can use technology to embed differentiation within our educational system and how to better integrate students outside understandings of tech into their learning experience.
Throughout this course, I hope to explore how to differentiate what makes an effective mobile teaching tool versus one that can be simply run on a mobile device. I taught in a blended classroom model last year and struggled at times with technology-based tools that could be successfully implemented in an in-class setting, but not while students worked remotely on their own devices. I also hope to learn more about how learners interact in different manners when working on a mobile device versus something they consider to be fixed.
When not at work, I enjoy:
- Spending time with my 11-month-old son
- Walking the dog
- Cooking
- Riding my bike
- Pickleball
- Woodworking
Looking forward to getting to know you all and exploring new learning throughout the course!
Excellent goal differentiating with the affordance of mobile learning and device capability. There is also interoperability, connectivity, and capabilities to consider.
Hello Brenden,
I have taught 8th grade students (but French Language and Literature) for a long time (more than 15 years!) and I am also passionate about integrating technology into my teaching strategies. Looking forward to collaborating with you!
Hello Braden, unlike many I do not have a degree in English but rather a Bsc in Biology. I am excited to learn different ways to embed technology for differentiation of learning, but how to use the tools like mobile devices more effectively. Nice to meet you and I look forward to working with you in the course.
Hi Braden! Nice to meet you. I too have taken an interest in pickelball! It is an excellent sport and gets quite competitive! I am looking forward to learning with you throughout the course!
Hi Megan, I have been quite surprised about the different perspectives, strategies and approaches that can be taken to the sport. Maybe a lesson to take forward to mobile learning? Looking forward to working with you throughout the course!
Hello Braden!
We meet again! What a pleasure!
Hello Braden,
Thanks for sharing Hector, what kind of dog breed is he?
Hi Sonia, he is 100% a big mutt! We suspect he may be a lab-mastiff mix, but since he was a rescue from animal control, we may never know!
