My apologies for this late first post. I was drawn to this post for a number of reasons including the fact that I am about to embark on some online tutoring myself and in particular to a line written about connecting online tutoring to powerful lessons in global citizenship, a well-known topic that I am interested in tying into technology mediated impactful language learning. Online tutoring allows for great freedom to study wherever, whenever, and with whomever we choose. There are also multiple price points and some tutoring that is completely free like Khan’s Academy peer tutoring (schoolhouse.world). This can make online tutoring very attractive and much more accessible than other forms of tutoring. I had heard of Khan’s Academy and am glad to have the opportunity to learn more about its online peer tutoring program here. Does anyone here have any online tutoring experiences and would you be able to respond with the pro’s/con’s or challenges to online tutoring as opposed to a more traditional face-to-face experience?
I also love the idea of peer tutoring and think it would tie in nicely with contructivist/constructionist teaching methodologies as students would be actively building/sharing their knowledge by forging connections and learning through doing. This has given me some great ideas for some project-based activities.

It is a great idea to use an online tutor when there are distance challenges (geographical), a lack of specialized tutors, learning difficulties, or when you need flexibility.
Hi Louisa,
I like online tutoring. I have been tutoring for past 16 years but during pandemic I switched to tutoring online using Google Meet. I tutor Math/Science and find the whiteboard and other features really interesting.
Hi Louisa, I find your topic very interesting because I am planning to use online tutoring for my self-education at the end of this year. I will gladly read the results of your project. Thank you!
