Hi folks, my name is Sam Paterson, and I live with my 2 daughters and my partner Stephanie in Paradise, NL. I’m a French Immmersion teacher at a semi-rural middle school in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, where I teach Grade 6 French Immersion as well as some Grade 8 Core French. My non-instructional time is taken up with various technology and maker-related activities, and coaching Elementary and Junior High Track and Field.
In my personal time, I enjoy running, listening to music, spending time with family, and exploring the great outdoors of Newfoundland. I love working on projects and collaborating with others, and I’m always curious to try new approaches to teaching and learning. I have a fairly busy schedule this semester, with many projects and special events happening in school and a busy spring Track and Field, Trail Running and Road Running schedule for my student-athletes (and for myself).
Before my B.Ed at Memorial University, I completed a B.Sc. in Biology (with a Theatre Minor) at Bishop’s University in Quebec. This is my 4th MET course, and I’m really enjoying the program so far. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how often I have been able to translate my MET experiences and learning to the classroom already. I selected this particular course because my formal training in Mobile Learning, AI, and related fields is woefully inadequate. That hasn’t stopped me from experimenting and exploring these topics in the classroom and beyond, but I feel I have a responsibility to become better informed on theory and best practices, as well as to engage with others to explore ideas and processes in action outside my School District.
Hi Sam,
Beautiful family and hilarious introduction!
Looking forward to studying with you.
Good luck!
Kirsten
Hi Sam,
Nice to see you again. I believe we have had some courses together before?
I hope that this course can help me gain more information that I can use to help other teachers and administrators to understand the positives of using mobile devices and AI in the classroom.
