This assignment was more challenging than I anticipated. The breadth of information about pens is astounding. I packed this video with content, to the point that it almost feels a bit rushed, however I felt that the expansive history was important to capture because as we discuss the possibility of pen and paper being replaced by digital technology it creates a frame of reference for how long humanity has been using pen-technology and can help us appreciate the the significance of such a hypothesis.
I tried really hard to cross-reference and get dates sorted correctly. I really wanted the 5000-ish year time-line to be clearly comparable to the relatively short time-line of new technologies. I wove-in analysis at the beginning and the end, hypothesizing on the effect the pen has had on society and musing about the future.
As a final side note- I don’t think I’ve ever had more technological difficulty with a project in my life! I will never use Videoscribe again!
