For my rip.mix.feed contribution I decided on a comic strip to illustrate my learning journey through ETEC 540. You can find the post and comic strip at https://www.jomoore.ca/rip-mix-feed/

This was great, thanks for sharing your ideas. I’ve been tossing around having a comic strip for my students to use in a creative writing course and I think looking at your use of it I’m going to go for it. It also allows for many of my writers who are perhaps not as expressive with words to be able to convey their ideas through pictures which really levels the playing field for my class. I have seen the rise of graphic novels in class these past few years and I think that it really opens up literacy to a new range of students, and opens the doors to those who find reading straight text more difficult. Thanks!

Hey Nathan! I’m glad you enjoyed the comic strip and that it’s helped you decide to go for using a comic strip with your students. I think it’s a really awesome way to teach students how to convey ideas with a limited number of words – something that a lot of struggle with even now! Good luck with the class … i hope they have fun with their learning!

I enjoyed your comic strip! I see that a few of us decided to go the comic strip route, myself included, so it was nice to see what others came up with. I went with an app called Pixton and also had some frustrations with text and am interested to check out the program you used, in future endeavors. Well done!

Hey Marcia,
Thanks for sharing your comic strip for Rip.Mix.Feed, I really enjoyed it and think it’s awesome that there are a number of different software applications that can be used to create comics. I haven’t come across one that I feel is the “perfect” one but good luck trying out ToonDoo!
