Some Histories of Comic Books

A couple of discrepancies are present here: 1) the running time is 12:49 — I cut and cut but could cut no further. 2) You’ll notice the date above is 2 days off the posting date. I called it “Some Histories of Comic Books” because there are really 4 stories here of the rise of comics in 4 different cultures. In American Comics, I talked about the Golden Age but didn’t have time to get into the Silver, Bronze, Modern or Post-Modern, which is too bad because there’s plenty there to analyse as well. In addition to the 4, I include a little section on conventions or how comics communicate. In the cartoon I had made earlier, the section is called “Semiotics”, but I had to cut down the whole technical explanation of what that means (“the study of signs”) and the terminology that goes with it.

I would actually not call myself a comic book aficionado, owning under 50 publications, but I got really into studying about the genre and I hope my enthusiasm comes through in the video. Apologies to our professor for not covering historietas!
