Keeping Up: Digital Technologies, “The Living Present”

How I Became a Zombie

I used a simple program that is on the computers at my school. It is Keynote.  I will using it with my students.  It is a friendly, colourful, and fun program to use for sharing ideas and information.  It also has good features for hyperlinks.

I liked using Keynote as it was a lot of fun to play with images and ideas.  It felt very whimsical and fresh as well.  I think the students in my grade 6/7 class will enjoy using it. I think it has its limitations, but it is definitely great “eye candy” for 10 to 12 year olds.  I haven’t had to use power point in my career so far, and I haven’t had a lot of reason to use flashy or “fun” apps very often, but now I am teaching grade 6/7, it is useful for me to understand how to use these kind of programs, and how to use it in meaningful ways to enhance learning and the ways in which my students can share information, collaborate, and connect to the curriculum in ways they haven’t in the past.
