The evaluation community has lost a giant in the field. Professor Emeritus Barry MacDonald (Centre for Applied Research in Education,University of East Anglia) died on Monday 15th April.
He is known for the development of democratic evaluation, and was known to be provocative in his evaluation work and personal life.

Yes, indeed. These days more than ever we need people of his courage and clarity of analysis. We fall so short of the standards he set.
Came looking for news of Barry when I needed a clear and strong articulation of the meaning of democratic evaluation. And found that Barry is no longer with us. I am sad to have lost the opportunity to again connect with Barry. I am very grateful to have known him, worked with him and listened to his mind at work.
