My name is Fariba Rajabi. I am an Iranian-Canadian citizen living in Vancouver. Currently, I am studying Dietetics as a second degree. My love for food started at the very young age. We had a family summer house where my dad planted fruits and vegetables every year. My mom cooked simple meals with whatever dad harvested and came from the garden. Later on, studying the first-year college in science sparked an interest in me to study nutrition and become a dietitian. I finished my first degree in Food, Nutrition, and Health in 2010. After graduation, I focused to fulfill my family responsibilities and commitment. However, I dearly kept my educational goal in mind to intently pursue.
In the spring of 2016, I started my International Culinary Diploma at the Vancouver Art Institute where I excelled in cooking techniques, ethnic and regional cuisine, and sanitation and safety. As well, I developed my understanding of the applied science behind cooking and its fundamental connection to health. During this time, I was also involved in planning and delivering a community and health-based cooking workshops for teenagers at both the Vancouver Art Institute and Nutrikids.
I also created two blogs which have the same contents but different language, English and Farsi! My blogs are channels through which I connect with people who like my recipes and style.
I enjoy taking part in a wide range of professional development activities such as meeting with dietitians working in different fields. Studying Dietetics as a second major is an opportunity to choose my elective course from a large collection of courses that work in my success as a Registered Dietitian in Canada.
In my career, my mission is to motivate and empower my clients with lifelong healthy skills, as well as helping clients who need special nutrition needs. My vision is to develop a practice in both clinical pediatrics and private. I love teaching people healthy cooking skills. I think this is going to be the primary method of serving my clients in private practice. My knowledge of different cultures’ food and dietary practices is invaluable to me as a prospect registered dietitian working in Canada, a multicultural society.
