Multimedia Inventory
After consultation with peers, I went through my LMS site and conducted an inventory of all the multimedia objects on my site. It was an interesting discussion that we had defining what constituted a tool, and what was a multimedia object. Additionally it seems that the words media and multimedia are used interchangeably in this course. Is multimedia simply any combination of words and images, do they have to be used together, are navigation tools and standard icons multimedia? In the end we agreed that things like icons, and navigation tools (ie: buttons) which come with the tool (like the calendar that is included in this wordpress tool) didn’t need to be inventoried, because copyright was not an issue for us. We also agreed that the inventory is something that should be done before the site is completed, and used as a checklist of sorts, to make sure the author is keeping track of each item as it is used, and is aware of it’s copyrights and fair use.
