Learning Aspirations

By the end of this class you should be able to:

  1. Define key concepts and frameworks on gender, race and sexuality in relation to security, militarism, displacement, climate change, post-conflict reconstruction
  2. Comprehend the challenges and opportunities of implementing international frameworks into national and local contexts, and the ways such frameworks are politicized;
  3. Develop a clear understanding of the ethical role and responsibilities of the researcher, policy maker and journalist to people living through periods of political violence and its aftermaths.
  4. Embrace your inner feminist!

Pedagogically, we will take a multi-modal approach to learning,  and practice feminist reflexivity, care and relational learning in the classroom.

This is a reading intensive course.  The majority of learning will be done in-seminar and therefore requires thorough preparation of notes based on readings prior to class.
