The Mining Justice Alliance is a Vancouver-based group of activists, social organizations, unionists and students allied in response to shared concerns about the practices of Vancouver based mining companies in Canada, the Americas, and around the globe. Because Canada is home to over 75% of the worlds mining corporations, and Vancouver is home to over half of those in Canada, we have a crucial responsibility in recognizing the social and environmental injuries created by companies based in our city. The Mining Justice Alliance works to hold Vancouver-based mining companies to account through grassroots organizing. Our activities and actions include public awareness campaigns and cultural events, strategic campaigns addressing the cultural and financial investment of public and private sectors in Canadian-owned mining operations, and efforts with communities outside of Vancouver who are facing environmental and/or human rights violations.
