Characteristics: A nice, small evergreen fern that works in local gardens. Dimorphic fronds. Horizontal fronds are the same on both sides. Upright fronds are fertile, spaced further apart with spores on the underside, and have more brittle stems. Once spores are released the fertile fronds collapse. Pinnately compound. Blechnum are hardy ferns. Native across the northern hemisphere.

Growing conditions: Grows in shade with some moisture.

Limitations: Not a lot- great fern!
