Characteristics: Hot tropical colour adds an uplifting spirit to the garden in late spring. Stunning ombre/gradient flower spike. Long blooming period of over 2 months from mid/late June to August (although 2016 blooming was late-May to mid-July). Nectar-rich tubular flowers are very attractive to hummingbird. Originally from South Africa (where there are no hummingbirds). Calypso mix is a good performer with a long flowering season. Unopened flowers are darker than older flowers.

Growing conditions: Good drainage, in the open, full sun.

Limitations: Persistent spikes once flowers pass look awkward/slightly ugly.
