Recently, the brand new 12.9-inch iPad with stunning screen and powerful processing power came into public’s attention. Different from Apple’s previous products, iPad Pro now can be purchased with keyboard and Apple Pencil, which making it quite similar to Microsoft’s Surface Book. Apple said that the new version is capable of replacing laptop not only it is much lighter and faster, but is also competent to perform all the jobs than laptops can do.

However, I don’t really think iPad Pro really pose a threat on the laptop market. Before iPad Pro, Microsoft had already brought Surface RT and Pro to the market while it didn’t make a success in the market. The combination of tablet devices and laptop didn’t really attract laptop users’ attention as its flaws in ergonomics and software support. The general public have completely adapted operating on a device using fingers instead of mouse so that majority of them still prefer to use laptops. Furthermore, the operating system of iPad Pro limits the functionality of applications (like aftereffect, Photoshop…etc) and hence people with special need to use those applications will choose PC or laptops instead. Though Apple has always been pushing the development of the mobile devices, sometimes new things are not always popular as man-kinds always have dependence on things that they used to be familiar with.
