Photovoice Project: Becoming Jemez: The Early Childhood of Jemez Children

This series of visual panels represents a community-based participatory research project which investigates the home and community learning experiences and cultural and linguistic development of young Jemez children. Dr. Eunice Romero-Little is an Indigenous scholar at Arizona State University collaborated with the Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico to create this visual construction of Indigenous early childhood.

We acknowledge the Faculty of Education, the Department of Language and Literacy Education, the Institute of Early Childhood Education and Research, the Indigenous Education Institute of Canada and the First Nations House of Learning for supporting this event. This event was part of the UBC Faculty of Education’s Year of Indigenous Education, which advances Indigenous education initiatives through teaching, research and community engagement.
