The Globe and Mail reports that along with a further Toyota recall, Honda has now recalled many of their popular models, such as the Honda Fit, due to faulty airbags.

The first thought that comes to mind is that the auto makers who were once viewed as producing technically un-flawed vehicles have been brought back down to the same level as Ford, GM, and VW vehicles. The second thought that comes to mind is that Honda really could not have picked a better moment to make their latest recall public. While Toyota is being torn apart for yet another recall, this time the brakes, Honda announces a recall that will not see any further action until mid February when letters are sent to the affected car owners.

In terms or image management I have to say well played Honda. However, the image of a well built car is now non-existent whether you are Toyota or Honda.
