Hello! My name is Ivy Hsu and I am one of the UBC Arts-Based & Creativity (ABC) Cohort elementary teacher candidates.

My teaching philosophy and goal as an educator is to provide children with a helpful, caring, and safe environment. In my opinion, I think teachers should direct the child and correct when he or she makes a mistake and give them as much positive direction as possible. That way the children can learn best through direct experience. Every school should provide help to children in poverty and those who have learning disabilities. It is most important for children to have a caring and safe environment. This will make them to feel more secure in the classroom. Each child acts differently and teachers within schools should have a general working knowledge of every child. The effects of classroom learning should be clearly visible and monitored. Overall, I believe that all children should be educated with a high quality education with positive reinforcement. Not only this, but for those children who have learning disabilities, we as the teachers need to treat them with respect and equality.
