Meaningful content

I enjoyed the assessment portion of the course…creating a quiz inside of Moodle.  At first I was quite skeptical of its overall functionality and look, but inside the quiz portion I found a little solace actually.  I was excited because navigating through the options for feedback, time limits and specific answers to questions and how much they would be worth, I realized that I could actually use this portion of the site with my Grade 5 class.

I wish to reiterate this fact again, as I believe I have stated on every page of this blog site, that I really hoped and wished to create an online environment for my class that I could actually use.  My time is so limited, or so it would seem, that I really want to use it wisely and not waste it on material content that will simply get locked inside a website page that no one will get any use out of.  I actually fear that quite honestly.  Time is so precious…God…I’m genuinely re-realizing that fact right now as I type this.  And before I get too worked up, I’m simply going to stop typing, log off now and go home and kiss my wife and son goodnight.   Cheers to significant and meaningful content!

Ah… Moodle

Moodle, you frustrate me so.  I cannot do what I feel is intuitive, and my due date is looming.  I will tell you this; however, it has forced me to really think about what I want to offer anyone who looks upon my Moodle site…which I am not hyper-linking here purposefully.

Simply, my frustration has been because of my sheer lack of experience using it’s interface.  It seems easy enough, and i’ve watched the YouTube tutorials, but come on!  It seems outdated and lacking a certain…je ne sais pa.

And since ‘I dont’ know what’ it is, that too adds to my grey hair population…and we’re definitely reaching a critical mass there.

I will overcome this, but the moment has me reflective and in need of reaching out.  No need to ‘comment’, those of you who actually read this, but just know that if you think you’re alone in your own “Moodle Madness” (that’s what i’m calling it) you’re wrong…i’m here with you.

Once again, however, the overall look and feel of my site will be much more user friendly, as I have had this initial frustration and it has forced me to practice what I normally preach…which is Pedagogy before Technology.  Thanks Moodle…you maddening, mediocre,  management system you…you’ve transformed my way of being.

A Day In

It didn’t take me long to be completely unsatisfied with the overall look and feel of my first ‘Theme’ chosen for this site.  I feel that a blog should represent the person speaking, the person’s personality or persona.  Much like that of the eyes being a window into the soul, so too should the blog be a window.  That being said i’m not sure exactly what my blog seems to say about me.  Simple, clean, organized…control freak?

I am trying my best to throw caution to the wind, or throw it out the window as it were, and really take risks with the ‘blog’ portion of this site.  I am very aware that a fraction of a fraction of a percentage of people will actually take the time to read this, if any, so why not treat it as a way to vent, think, project, and otherwise stir the pot.  With all the blogs ‘out there’, since whenever blogs were created in the first place, mine must be like that of a star in the universe of shimmering and endless galaxies made up of billions upon billions of other stars…all spreading their light upon the world.

A day in and i’m already feeling quite insignificant.

First Impressions

Well, the 565A journey has begun.  Although I consider myself rather tech-savvy, I wouldn’t necessarily say i’m that comfortable sharing my inner most thoughts and feelings on the web.  I’ll stick to the basics, and I hope to learn much from this experience!
