Is it time to walk away from BBM?

Since 1999, BlackBerry has been one of the leading smartphones used worldwide.  Business individuals, more specifically, invest in this phone because of its reliable system, fast email, and instant messaging features. However, as Adrian mentioned in his post, Blackberry recently had the worst service outrage  that left millions of owners without access to their phones. Still struggling to keep pace with Apple and Android devices, can this be the bitter end for BlackBerry?

But surprise surprise, RIM has come up with a plan to keep customers, and most importantly, investors contented. They will try to appease its BlackBerry users by giving them free apps worth more than $100. It’s basically their way to say “yes, it was our fault” and can be viewed as a  plea to the public to not abandon the brand. But, is this enough for BlackBerry to bounce back from its recent breakdown? Sales haven’t been exceeding expectations and it’s not like the PlayBook  has proven itself worthy as a rival against Apple’s iPad.

Personally, I diminished my plans on hopping on the BBM train and got myself an Android instead. And I wouldn’t be surprise, in the next few years, many will follow my suit.

The iLegacy

iPod. iPhone. iPad. These products were recently left behind by an important man behind the success of technology of the 20th century.  As the man who ran Apple, Steve Jobs (1955-2011) left a legacy that will forever touched this generation’s hearts (Mike Wehner, 2011). The success of mobile devices is a sign of what Jobs had accomplished in his premature life.

The iPhone 4S created a worldwide buzz – everyone tuned in for the release of the newest Apple phone. Product after product, Apple has set itself ahead of its competitors with constant new innovations and outstanding sales. The name Steve Jobs is not only known for his inventions, but also an inspiration to many, especially individuals in our generation.

You see, Steve Jobs is a pure genius. He turned this generation to a path of “self-choosing”. It wasn’t all about that new product in our hands. It’s about us creating and expressing ourselves; it’s about us thinking outside the box and setting off that creative mindset. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Steve Jobs! Thank you for envisioning a powerful way for technology to change the world today. Thank you for leaving us an unforgettable “iLegacy”!
