Since 1999, BlackBerry has been one of the leading smartphones used worldwide. Business individuals, more specifically, invest in this phone because of its reliable system, fast email, and instant messaging features. However, as Adrian mentioned in his post, Blackberry recently had the worst service outrage that left millions of owners without access to their phones. Still struggling to keep pace with Apple and Android devices, can this be the bitter end for BlackBerry?
But surprise surprise, RIM has come up with a plan to keep customers, and most importantly, investors contented. They will try to appease its BlackBerry users by giving them free apps worth more than $100. It’s basically their way to say “yes, it was our fault” and can be viewed as a plea to the public to not abandon the brand. But, is this enough for BlackBerry to bounce back from its recent breakdown? Sales haven’t been exceeding expectations and it’s not like the PlayBook has proven itself worthy as a rival against Apple’s iPad.
Personally, I diminished my plans on hopping on the BBM train and got myself an Android instead. And I wouldn’t be surprise, in the next few years, many will follow my suit.
