Promoting Sustainability…

In the recent years, sustainability has been a growing criteria to follow by companies and will soon become essential.

The Chief Executive of Puma stated, “sustainability is essential to the health and future of our business”. Puma has become the first major famous brand to fully publish details of the cost of its impact on the environment.

Cost of the carbon it emitted in 2010: 94.4 Million Euros.

How does publishing these numbers benefit the company in the long run?

Puma’s target by 2015: reduce its carbon, energy and water waste by 25%. Publishing these numbers for the public to see will show if they are actually implementing this change and will make it easier to track the changes.

Chief executive of Puma stated that reducing Puma’s environmental impact would improve its future performance and would help build Puma into a more “resilient and sustainable business model”.

Puma is taking action to reduce their environmental impact now to benefit them in the future. Puma believes they will gain a competitive advantage over their rivals since sustainability will be necessary for companies to have in the future.

Undergoing such restructuring towards more sustainable outcomes will become more favourable in the long run.
