Response to Christine’s Post: NBA stars in Goggle’s new marketing ploy

Google, a name known by every computer user on the planet, is one the biggest company in the world. As we wrote in our business plan, for a company to stay ahead as a market leader, it needs to be innovative. By inventing “Google+“, Google just demonstrated that it has the innovative resources to stay at the top.

As it just launched it’s new innovation, Google partnered with top NBA player such as LeBron James to market its new product. Encouraging the fans to connect with their favorite teams through “google+” by promoting free live streaming, Google is targeting a specific market, sports. Google hoped to create a new social networking website which would rival facebook and targeted sports fan first and expected to expand in the future but the idea was not as successful as anticipated.

I agree with Christine that due to a certain lack of innovation and originality, Facebook subscribers did not see the incentive to switch to a new social media and waste time since there were no appealing characteristics to Google+. If google wants to create a new attractive social media website, the company should make sure that Google+ will attract more then just a particular target market.
