What I’ve learned about myself in COMM 299

“Intellection, input, achiever, relator, learner”
It is the result of my StrengthsQuest survey, which impressed me most in comm 299. I was surprised since it accurately reveals what type of person I am.
Intellection and relator – Yes, I like to think, I am the kind of person who enjoys my time alone because it is my time for musing and reflection. This may be one of the reasons why I am wordless. When I was little child, my silence was an annoyance for me. But as I grew up, I’ve learned how to get along with it. I love to record my thoughts and feelings, though it may seem weird to someone, I know they are the footprints of my growth. This characteristic makes me a “relator” – I derive a great deal of pleasure and strength from being around my close friends. Once the initial connection has been made, I would encourage a deepening of the relationship. Maybe it is not a bad thing. Instead, it is just what I am.
Input and learner – I love to learn and collect subject matter that interests me. The process of learning and collecting, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for me. In my opinion, there is a “balance” between input (process) and output (result). Most of the time, we learn from the “input”, and the “output” sometimes cannot reflect the amount of efforts that we put in the process. Over these years, I have relized the importance of the process instead of the result. This idea induces me to consider what I’ve actually learned in comm 299 and other comm courses is much more important than what I’ve got for the final grades.
Achiever – I was quite bothered by my a constant need for achievement because even I felt tired, this inside need would push me to do more, to achieve more. But now, after read the survey result, I feel it is like my “identification”. And thanks to this need, I’ve experienced a lot and ahieved what I expected to achieve.
I feel the course not only introduces me with business communication, but also tells me more about myself.
