it's a lifelong learning process

Long Practicum: Week 10

Well that’s a wrap!! I cannot believe 10 weeks has come and gone. I just would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this unforgettable journey. The staff at my practicum school were nothing short of spectacular. They were always smiling and always willing to help whenever I needed it. I am so thankful for their kindness and support. My SA has provided me with the guidance and feedback that has allowed me to grow into the teacher I am today. I learned so much from her and she has provided me with the opportunity to succeed as a new, beginning teacher. She has granted me with the necessary skills that are needed to start this lifelong journey of teaching. I could not have done this without her. She was so helpful, positive, and supportive and really allowed me to feel comfortable and capable within the classroom. I have received great feedback from both my SA and FA. Without this feedback I would not have been able to grow. Teaching is such a lifelong journey and it’s not something that can be mastered because there is always so much to learn. I don’t expect to be the perfect teacher however I am very happy with how far I have come. In a matter of 10 short weeks I have grown into a more confident and capable teacher. I cannot wait to see how much more I grow as I begin my teaching career.

Mostly of all, what made my last day at practicum so difficult was having to say goodbye to all of my amazing students! They made this journey worthwhile. They always knew how to put a smile on my face and I will miss them greatly! On my last day I was showered with beautiful handmade cards and sad faces as they didn’t want to see me leave. It made me realize why I have always wanted to teach; to shape young minds and make a difference in their lives. I not only made a difference in their lives but they have made a difference in mine. I will always remember my first class and will miss them greatly.

Overall, I am excited to be done practicum and excited for what lies ahead. Hopefully I will see my students again one day and see how far they have come. I will always remember their smiling faces and kind hearts.
