Skiing Season

Living in Hong Kong for almost all my life, i have never seen that much snow in my life….ever. There is a  good side and a bad side to this. Bad side is, i can no longer play my soccer and this blistering cold is just too unbearable for someone who is use to a a hot and humid weather. On the good side, I can finally snowboarding for the first time in my life 🙂 . Dont get me wrong but ive done skiing. I just wanted to try something new. One of the most important gears of snowbaording is a good pair of goggles. From what ive read from my fellow classmates Randy Grewal\’s Blog, it seems like goggles has become more a a fashion than a funcitonal product. Now you can get various designs, blue red, mixed colours and etc.  I just cant wait to get a pair of these super cool looking goggles

Ethical Marketing

Just recently i was looking through some interesting marketing techniques in sports.  Living in North America, it would only make sense to look at how companies market in American Football, College football to be exact. From the image, you can see that the bud light can is of the LSU team. But is this ethical? If fans were to enter into the stadium, wouldnt this “fan can” engourage binge drinking? From my opoinoin it does, because what better way is there to show your support for the team.

Eating Healthy

Everywhere in the media, people are always discussing the way food is made now these days. Whether its organic, low fat, low salt, and etc, everybody trying to be healthy and all that stuff. And from my classmate’s  Kenneth Qiu\’s Blog we actually have to go to the extent that we  ‘trick’ the younger generation by packaging baby carrots like chips so that they would be more inclined to eat them??? What has society turned into?? I believe that the way solve the unhealthy eating style is through education, not just school, but also through the parents. If only kids these days spend a little more time outdoors playing more sports and little less time playing life sucking  computer games and just eat i think that people would be more healthy. Therefore there would be no need for these ridiculous products such as baby carrots packaged as chips.

Just an Ad which i thought was great

Axe never stops coming up with great ads, however THIS by far, is the best I think. Nothing beats an ad with the combination of sex and humour, a sprinkle of cheekiness, which is borderline dumb. THIS AD WAS AWESOME. Because of this, i actually went to save ons just to check out what was so special about the shower gel(it smelled awesome FYI). This ad will will probably keep you ROFLing, if that’s even an actual term for about 3-4 times, but after you might just start hating it. But if you do, theres always Dennis Saintclaire and Monica Blake!!!!!!YouTube Preview Image

So why are celebrities or sports stars in advertisements

In the world we live in today, companies use of celebrity can be seen everywhere and it seems like it is a “winning formula” for building company image and to market goods and services. Looking through a recent market research, it showed that the highest recall commercials were ones with celebrities in them.

Advertisers do this because they believe that the company’s image can be built through the celebrity which allows for greater attention for consumers, leading  to  greater profits. However, the downside to the attachment of celebrities  and products is that celebrities are often unstable, meaning they often have scandals, and their fame fluctuates. When fame goes down, the brand goes down, and vice versa.

Serving over 1 billion people, YOUTUBE is what people think of when searching for a video. Therefore, if you were a marketer, director, or any other kind of online publisher or entrepreneur, one should get a lot of attention on YOUTUBE.

Keeping it Fresh

There is a freshness factor to your videos and it is much more difficult to get videos honors and movement within the search algorithm if the video is old. You would be better off removing that video and re-submitting it if you are looking to produce honors in a given field and to have a chance at hitting the home page with greater ease.

Keeping it Real

Factors to take into consideration when submitting a video is going to be your profile authority. How many friends does this profile have, how many subscribers and how many channel views. The reason this is important is to get more initial exposure and more views using a power profile will help you out greatly. Submitting a video on a orphan account with no friends or subscribers may raise some suspicion over at the Youtube headquarters. Make your profiles look natural and build them out.

Youtube has honors for each type of action that can be taken on a video. Honors for comments, favorites, ratings and views. As a marketer if you focus on anyone of these and get a substantial number of votes, favorites, ratings or views in a day you will see honors pretty quickly.

Old Spice Ads

Over this past summer, Old Spice commericials became  an internet phenomenon. Ive seen them on TV ads, billboards, and all over YOUTUBE. Thier views have been in the millions. I belive that their campaign was very successful as they even convinced me to buy one. of of their deoderant sticks.  They were able to promote thier products usinng relatively cheap channels such as YOUTUBE. Comments over their adson youtube are usually replied personally which allows people to feel personally involed in their product. It is also interesting to see how a big company expliots social networking and viral video sites in order to ‘tap’ into the younger generation. First Post

An intersing story came to my mind when i went to my first marketing class of 2010. This is the Tiger Woods Story.

If you havent heard about this story, then please come out of your cave or rock you have been hiding under and join, us “people”.

His perfect athelete image fell quicker than the speed of light. Till now, Gatorade has ditched and many more were on the brink of parting ways with him too. These include AT&T, Gillette, which are his main sources of income offfield

From my point of view, there were many reasons why he lost his endorsements, and marketability.

1. The minute the story broke of the car accident, his team should have had a vague prepared statement that scratched the surface as it related to the seriousness of the situation—i.e. this was more than an accident and the truth will come out soon.

2. He shouldve came out publicy and apologized to his wife publicly and discuss his situation no matter how bad it is.

3. He could have contacted his endorsements in hopes they woulndt drop him.

Living in the 21st century, the world is a media driven socity. Therefore it is very easy for ones credibility they work so hard to build to be stripped away in a matter of minutes. The TIger Woods sex scandal is a classic marketing crisis
