Objective

A position in research and development in polymer science, leading to management positions.

Qualifications

Proficient of Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent problem solving and communication skills, and previous  polymer experience in industry and academics. Experience in polymer characterization (light scattering) and chemical synthesis.

Education

Chemistry Honours, University of British Columbia

BSc. expected in April 2017.

Experience

DPoint Technologies

May 2015 – August 2015

Research Membrane Co-Op

Designed polymeric membrane materials for use in ventilation exchangers. Developed new methods and apparatuses for testing these materials and processed data using Excel, reported findings to R&D team.

Xerox Canada

September 2014 – December 2015

Process Engineering Co-Op

Synthesized polymer latexes via emulsion polymerization at bench top scale. Designed formulations based on data from previous ones to tailor the properties of latex. Analyzed latexes for particles and molecular weight. Successfully scaled up formulations to pilot plant scale for customer projects.

Kryton International Inc.

January 2014 – August 2014

Research Co-Op Assistant

Designed new cementitious materials for use in crack sealing. Tested viscosity, flow, adhesion, compressive strength, air content, and particle size to determine optimal formulations. Routinely performed quality control of batches and quality assurance for customers to ensure quality of products and find meaningful solutions for customer needs.

Activities

CURC Coordinator and Student Member, UBC Undergraduate Chemistry Society.
