INTRODUCTION TO CANVAS
New or returning to Canvas? In this introductory workshop you will learn how to set up and customize a basic Canvas shell, use modules as a home page for your course, upload files and receive an overview of the Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes and Gradebook features in Canvas. You will also learn how to customize your global Canvas personal settings and Canvas Dashboard.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Create and customize a Canvas shell
- Apply the various features and components of Canvas, including modules, files, assignments, and announcements, to enhance the overall organization and engagement of your course.
GRADING WITH CANVAS
Learn how to use the Canvas rubric, speedgrader and the comment tools to more efficiently grade assignments and provide timely feedback to students on their performance.
By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:
- identify the benefits of utilizing Canvas grading tools to assess students efficiently
- apply canvas grading tools to provide constructive and timely feedback
ASSESSMENTS IN CANVAS ( NOW EXAMS AND QUIZZES)
Learn how to create and grade quizzes and exams in Canvas using the Quiz tool. You will gain knowledge about the various question types available and explore different testing options to maintain security while accommodating students who may need extra time to complete the assessment.
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- Create quizzes in Canvas using the Quiz tool
- Identify the features such as question banks, randomize quiz questions, time limits, availability dates and provide accommodations for students who require extra time and enabling additional attempts
- Construct different question types (e.g., multiple-choice, essay, matching)
