Roger Cox, a partner of the Dutch Law firmĀ Paulussen Advocaten situated in the Netherlands, won a historic case that sued the Dutch government for not protecting it’s citizens from the dangers of climate change.

Mr Cox is now in Toronto and plans to meet with Canadian lawyers to discuss if the same case could be brought up here in Canada. If found guilty the Canadian government may have to introduce legislate thatĀ could have a drastic impact on businesses operating in Canada.
In my personal opinion, as someone who wants to venture into the field of environmental law in the future, I am really thrilled by this news. By incorporating environmental damage into a firms operating costs, this will give firms incentive to start research and development into more sustainable energy and will result in a greener Canada.
