Assignment 4:2 has instructed us to create a page for our job application package. Below you can find my application to a job posting from UBC CareersOnline. The position is a Software Developer with the Work Learn Program in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of British Columbia.

  • Term Project – Mind the Gap (Mar 2016 – present)
    • Mapping of London Underground subway system
    • Tested use of Java knowledge learned during term, and learned use of Android emulators
    • Worked independently to implement an application based on given UML Class Diagram. Designed methods to parse data from incoming servers for London train data, and implemented design of a simple user interface

  • Project Euler/Advent of Code (Jan 2016 – present)
    • Side work projects to work on coding/programming/functional design skills
    • Solving increasingly difficult mathematical problems that require programming knowledge
    • Some examples include finding sums of even numbers in a Fibonacci Sequence or the largest prime factor of a given number

  • Rubik’s Cube Solve Program (Jan 2016 – present)
    • Collaborative project to design a program that solves a given Rubik’s cube
    • Use of Racket programming language
    • Provided necessary knowledge of algorithms used to solve a Rubik’s cube, which simplified the current approach using generative recursion
