I think Lenora needs to use an existing website that focuses on the bullying subject. She can have a branch where she can relate to the community. It is even better because such portals already have traffic of visitors. The portal visitors from her community will find her resource relevant and will start engaging with the content she provides. This is very useful because Lenora will not have to spend a lot of time designing a website (even on weebly or wordpress) which will require bandwidth to upload content. She can simply link and tag resources that she finds relevant. I suggest she drives traffic to her branch of the portal by creating a tweeter account that addresses the bullying issue relevant to her community. This tweeter account can engage people to follow tweets, #, and mention her in any relevant resource found online. it also can be used to create live chats sessions between people and increase engagement. other social media platform can also be used to connect users to her branch of the portal such as: Facebook, instagram, snapchat…and more. All can be manage from the phone or the web which increases Lenora access to her audience and allow her to respond and engage with them on the go.

Hi Nidal,
I’m having a little bit of trouble understanding what you mean by Lenora having a branch that connects to a pre-existing website? Can you give an example of what you mean?
You also mention that she wouldn’t have to upload, rather, she could link and tag relevant resources. But, I wonder, since she did not find her original pro-d day culturally relevant, would Lenora potentially have to create some resources herself? Or, is the portal you mentioned a site with resources relevant to her community?
I like your idea to use social media to connect users to her branch of the portal–like you said, it’s a great way to encourage engagement. Do you think Lenora can manage such a large commitment to engage with her audience over social media with her work commitments and her family being a priority?
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Meghan
Thank you for the comment and the question. I agree I am not being clear when I say a branch. I will give you an example; If you wish to write a blog you have two options, first to build your own website using world press or anything similar and call it your blog, or simply write in platforms designed for blogging such as Medium. The first option means you need to design the UI of the website and manage the hosting and this requires bandwidth, time, and skills. The second will not only save you time and bandwidth but will also give you a place where people already visit. Linking content simple means tagging or even writing a comment on a blog and linking to your blog.
Lets say I am writing about education in the Middle East. I know a blog that talks about education is generic but it is the place people go to to read about education. Therefor if I write there I can attract the people who may be looking to read about the Middle East in general
I hope I answered you questions 🙂
Hi Nidal,
Thanks for clarifying. I definitely have a clearer understanding of your suggestion for Lenora. My question about uploading content still stands, though. I understand what you mean about linking to content comments, but how would you imagine Lenora proceeding if she wanted to upload her own content with her dial-up connection?

Hi Meghan
If the content Lenora wishes to upload is text and some small files then a dial-up will be fine. Otherwise she can upload the large files at school where she has fast internet but little time 🙂
