Introduction

This blog is a compilation of research on the Lebanese Republic to assist me (Rohina a student of International Relations and Economics) in preparing a Project Information Document – a Development Project Proposal. The objective is to understand how Lebanon engages with and in South-South Development Cooperation (SSDC) and how partnerships between Global South countries can be fostered to enhance development initiatives.

I will be adding to the pages as I read more on the country and its history of development and will then narrow down an area of development that I would like to delve into and design my project around.

The limitations to the knowledge that I will be able to collect include being in a western country within an institution founded on colonial educational structures. This limits the sources I can access as does the language barrier of documents and published items in Arabic. I am in the process of learning the language but will not be able to translate high level primary documents for research. I hope to be able to address or acknowledge the limitations in data and knowledge that I cannot collect by being in Lebanon so that the research is as accurate and reflective as can be for the purposes of the project.
