MET Journey

MET Journey

I started my MET journey to attain a better perception and understanding of educational technology and how it can be used within the context of educational pedagogy with its connection to the 21st century learner. This journey has been one that has helped me answer the question; “To what extent does one integrate technology in a grade one classroom and what activities produce collaborative scaffold learning that support curriculum objectives?”

In my ePortfolio I endeavour to share answers to research questions about collaborative learning. This demonstrates the knowledge that has been built over the two years that I have been in the MET program. It links my MET experiences to my teaching and shows how various literatures support my personal learning theory. It also shows how my learning or scholarship has become transformative in my teaching.

My ePortfolio represents my learning journey as one that has become reflective, passionate, and transformative. I am a perpetual student of learning.” In its broadest meaning this represents to me, my andragogy; self-initiative adult learning. “ …in which individuals take the initiative, with or without the help of others, in diagnosing their learning needs, formulating learning goals, identifying human and material resources for learning, choosing and implementing appropriate learning strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes”( Knowles, M. 1975:18).

The MET is a well constructed program that focuses on educational technologies through a series of 10 courses, (5 core, 5 elective) each addressing different learning objectives and challenges. My metaphor of path of the pearl is likened to my journey in the MET program. It is my grain of sand transformed into an object of beauty that reflects a joyful treasure in my education.

Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire.” William Butler Yeats

Listed below are the 10 ETEC courses that I took on my journey through the MET program. The ones that are highlighted are linked to a blog, especially created for that course. Within the blog are selected posts, assignments, and reflections. Please feel free to explore some of my learning throughout my educational journey.

To the right side of this page are the ETEC courses that I took ordered numerically and linked to their individual page. Each page contains a synthesized, analyzed, and reflective look back at each course with featured assignments that support theory and application.
