New Student Internships at UBC Farm

Spring has arrived and with more than a dozen research projects being conducted on site this summer, we are looking forward to an exciting season. UBC Farm research projects represent unique opportunities for students to gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiences in multiple areas of food sustainability. If you are or you know of any keen students eager to work out their brain cells and get dirt under their fingernails, check out these two opportunities:

Local Food Marketing

The growing popularity of farmer’s markets in Vancouver is undeniable. But what makes a farmer’s market succesfful? Research the social, ecological, and economic aspects of local food marketing AND gain direct, hands-on experience in the management of a farmer’s market management, the creation of new promotional material, exploration of new marketing avenues while learning about organic agriculture.

Sustainable Human Waste Recovery

Waterless, urine-diverting, vermicomposting toilets. Take part in edgy research about this advanced technology. Safely extracting nutrients from human waste is a stepping stone of sustainability – don’t miss your chance to be part of it!
