On Wednesday May 14th, the UBC Farm and our community of supporters will be coming together to celebrate the opening of our new yurt at the UBC Farm from 5:30-7:30pm. A special Indigenous Feast Bowl is done to mark the occasion. The Feast Bowl is a long-standing UBC Farm tradition where, once a month, students, faculty and staff harvest produce from the Indigenous Health Garden and then prepare a community meal together incorporating traditional indigenous foods.
They are recruiting 3-5 volunteers to help with the meal preparation. You would have to be available on Wed May 14 from 2:30-5:30pm. Please have any interested students/volunteers contact Sabrina Yan, Development Coordinator, at 604-822-0599 or at sabrina.yan@ubc.ca.
PS: Click here to see a two minute video showcasing the building of the yurt in time lapse and which talks about the difference the yurt will make in the lives of the children and Aboriginal groups who will use this space.
