Welcome to the world of culinary medicine. Our 3.5-hour evening introductory workshops are dedicated to educating physicians, nurses, dietitians, and students in health disciplines in an innovative and engaging way by integrating evidence-based nutritional information, chef-led demonstrations, and hands-on kitchen work in a communal and interactive learning environment. The teaching venue is the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver, a state-of-the-art culinary school with a classroom/demonstration/eating area and multiple island-configured kitchens. These physician/chef/dietitian-led workshops are associated with specific clinical nutrition learning objectives, such as those directed to helping patients with cardiac disease, hypertension, GI difficulties, food allergies and intolerances and weight control issues. Participants will also learn culinary skill s ranging from basic knife cutting to expert food product knowledge. The overall educational goal is to promote measurable positive changes in personal and professional nutrition-related behaviors among the participating physicians.
This program has been accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the BC Chapter for up to 2.25 Mainpro-M1 credits.
Please note: This is a not a volunteering or paid job posting. It is an evening workshop that you can pay and sign up for and attend as a student on November 14th and 25th, 2015.
