A picture of me during an archaeology dig in Sicily in May 2016
Hello!
My name is Madolyn Goodall and I am an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia. I am currently in my second year in the Faculty of Arts, and have not yet declared a major.
During my time at UBC so far, I have explored many fascinating areas of study such as Family Studies, ancient Greek, Roman, Near Eastern, and Biblical mythologies, and Earth Science. From this list, it is clear that I have had a hard time settling on just one area of interest. While bouncing from subject to subject, I have had many great opportunities. For example, in May 2016 I participated in a month-long archaeological dig in Sicily, Italy to help excavate a late Roman villa, and in April 2016 I participated in an undergraduate research conference to present my paper on the experiences of women who suffer from postpartum depression as the result of childbirth.
Although I am not yet completely certain of my academic career path, I am considering pursuing a major in French, and then going into the Bachelor of Education program to become an elementary school level French immersion teacher. I myself studied in the French immersion program from the age of five to the age of eighteen. I feel that this career path would give me a way of combining my many areas of interest.
