About Me / はじめまして

Who are you? What is this? And why are you in Japan???

  1. My name is Maranda Wilson, and I am a 4th year English Honours student at UBC Okanagan. I am also the project manager and former editor/editor in times of crisis at The Phoenix News, UBC Okanagan’s student newspaper. You can say I do a lot of reading and writing.
  2. This is my UBC blog for the “Kakehashi Project,” where I will post daily about my week in Japan. This blog will be a way to record my travels for myself, others, and future Kakehashi participants.
  3. So about the Kakehashi Project: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan has launched “Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs” to promote people-to-people exchange between Japan and the world. Twenty-one students (ranging from 3rd year to PhD students) from UBC, UBC-O, and UVIC have been selected to participate in this fully-funded program. While the program has already been implemented in other universities and high schools in North America, it is UBC’s inaugural year in the program.
