Heyho!
I was going through a few magazines to look for an ad to talk about here, but then I got distracted by my laptop when facebook notified me that someone tagged a picture of me. I was on facebook for a couple of minutes until I saw this video on the news feed, posted by a friend of mine.
It is a commercial for Foot Locker which I think is funny even though I don’t think audiences (me) can really catch the message they are trying to say. At first I thought this ad was inappropriate, but then when their famous line ‘It’s a sneaker thing‘ comes up, I was like ‘OOOOooohh’.
I am a big fan of shoes, but sneakers are not my favorites. I have a few pairs of them, the plain ones – not the fancy or limited-edition ones. Watching their ad over and over again makes me feel a little bit excluded as I am not that familiar that thing about sneakers that Foot Locker is trying to point out.
I think Foot Locker is trying to induce the feeling of exclusivity-extraordinary to sneaker freaks by saying ‘It’s a sneaker thing‘ as if anyone else outside the sneaker freaks community would not understand. By wearing their sneakers, folks will be positively a part of ‘The sneakers community’ and they are carrying the word COOL on their foreheads, as they are really ‘in’ nowadays. It has become a culture in the history of fashion world.
Overall I think it is a impressive, unique, catchy commercial. Bravo Foot Lockers!
