TD bank extended business hours since on March 2011. ( I don’t remember specific date)

It was very good news for me as I am a user of TD bank.

This strategy is good for the company because they can gain more market share in the industry.

The reason why I opened my account from TD bank is that they have extra business hours comparing with other bank.

TD opened from 8am to 8pm which is pretty convenience for customers because people can go to bank after work or school.

From this year, Users of TD bank became more convenience for using the bank due to extending business hours even on sunday.

TD also has a great promotion programs, such as rebate credit card, saving account for free money, and so on.

Customer service is also great.Every employees are smiling to customers, so consumers could have good perceptions toward TD bank.

TD also know how to targeting depending on demogeographic segmentation. For example, there are a lot of Korean teller in Coquitlam where is called Korean town, which is very convenience for Korean customers, especially for elder people.

TD knows how to manage business through excellent customer service and positioning among the other banks.

They have been trying to be differentiated a lot, so many people have been moved to TD from other banks because TD has more merits than others and customers satisfied what TD does for the customers

I finally got an optimum reward card yesterday. I know it is pretty late to get it comparing with other people.

I feel like Shoppers does good marketing strategy by promoting Optimum reward card, which could be connected with what I learned form marketing class. By doing Optimum reward program, Shoppers can get more loyal customers because this program is very related with free money stuff by giving reward point.

This is what Shoppers promotes for…

Get 10 points when you spend $1.
Get 100 points when you spend $10.
Get 500 points when you spend $50.
Get 1,000 points when you spend $100

It makes customers keep purchasing products in Shoppers stores because they gives a lot of advantages toward customers.

I think optimum reward program is the best marketing strategy for customers!!!!

I like it!!

this is a fun song about Shoppers optimum card

Kia starts New model roll out!!!!

I read the article about ” Kia starts new model roll out” in Europe.

In Geneva motor show in 2011,  most car-makers here are displaying all-electric or petrol-electric hybrid cars at the show, and if anything the South Korean car-maker is a late entrant to the market with its Venga EV concept and its Ray plug-in hybrid concept.

The article says that “At first sight, there is nothing extraordinary about the Kia stand at the Geneva motor show”. It is explicit proved to be improved kia’s brand image comparing with the past Kia’s reputation.  Kia was used to being targeted for making a fun as a very cheap and poor performing car.

However, Kia starts to getting more popular and gain more revenue by selling its products since they were more focused on design and performance.  Kia already gains 1.8% in Europe car market share and its’ market share will grow and increase more by promoting seven-year warranty.

From Geneva motor show, it became a great chance to promote Kia automobile’s perception toward public as a good brand image.  As a result, Kia saved a lot of money for advertisement and it was even more affective promotion for the company by introducing and treated Kia as a top headline news abroad .

Adiddas is all in!! and Marketing 296 class!!

Adidas strives to capture global culture of teen spirit While I was surfing the web in search of this week’s topic to post on my marketing blog topic, this article Adidas strives to capture global culture of teen spirit” seemed very interesting to me.

As I read through the article, I recognized that there were a lot of information that I could relate to which I learned in my marketing class.

This article talks about changing and re-promoting Adidas’ product by unifying their segmentation from 4 different sectors of athletes, skate kids, fashion and music, to target their consumers as teenagers from ages 13 to 19 year old. The marketing team at Adidas believes that by combining these 4 different segmentations all together , they would make more revenues.

The marketing slogan of Adidas is “Adidas is All in” The basic concept of their marketing promotion is “passion.” Adidas tries to appeal to consumers that when people are passionate about something, they are “all in.” This new concept is differentiated from its competing brand Nike’s “just do it” slogan.

Adidas also tries to establish its global brand image as a “passionate” brand. Passion is a universal value and truth which can apply to anyone and anywhere. Through its commercial advertisement, Adidas delivers same message all over the globe. The advertisements in China and US deliver virtually the same meaning — “passion.” By releasing the same advertisement in the world, Adidas could save a lot on advertisement cost by unifying the content, although it spent most of the budget on hiring many famous celebrities from sports and music industry.

The article also talks about how Adidas promotes at the end of part of article, which is what I also learned from my marketing class.

This is my first time to witness myself how theories and information I acquired from school is related to real world example. My knowledge from school is very helpful and it helps me to understand implicit meanings behind marketing strategies, too, so I was quite pleased to read this article. I hope to find more articles that I can relate to what I have learned in school and apply my knowledge to better comprehend marketing in depth.

Ipad 2 tablet launched by Steve Jobs

March 10th, 2011 by mikaellee83
Respond

Ipad 2 has better graphics than the first generation of Ipad tablet
Ipad 2 also has front and rear cameras
Ipad 2 is faster than its predecessor, slimmer, lighter
More than all, Ipad 2’s price is the same as the first Ipad, which is a very reasonable price considering its performance and technology.
therefore, other tablet manufaturers would struggle to compete with ipad 2 pricing
Apple’s tablet sales has been decreaseing since the first ipad was released because
many competitors have been released its new devices, such as galaxy tab.
Ipad’s tablet shares was 95% until sep.2010. However, its share decreased
up to 75 percentages according to IDC’s statement. At the same time, Samsung’s
Galaxy Tab had increased up to 17 percentage in tablet share market.
Galaxy Tab is also preparing for releasing new version of it, like Ipad 2.
Other than technology, Apple is doing better in customer service than other companies.
Alice Wang claims that Apple customers have high satisfacion due to Apple’s Genius Bar and free one-year warranty, as well as two additional years at a low price.
Through launching Ipad 2,  Apple will dominate the tablet market once again.

After watching Lady Gaga’s new video “Born This Way”

After watching Lady Gaga’s music video “Born This Way”Lady Gaga’s new music video is released and it became a hot issue, as usual. This is my first time to watch her music video because my friend told me that this is ranked on the most-viewed video on Youtube because it is quite grotesque, yet innovative. In my opinion, most people will drop their jaws after watching this video. Before I watched this video, I wondered why Lady Gaga is such a hot issue and why she is so popular around the world. Before Lady Gaga became popular, most female pop-stars stereotypically presented themselves as sexy and beautiful figures.

Whatever they dressed, it became a trend and many teens would think them as their role models.
However, Lady Gaga is different than any other female pop-stars.
She is definately not good-looking or sexy — the way she dresses is very
unique and unusual, and no one would dare to dress like her.
Yet she still achieved to become one of the most popular artists with huge number of fans around the globe.
She always tries to be different, not only her appearance, but her music as well.
This music video is one of the most shocking viedos and it brought a big sensation to me.
Even though she is very strange in a way, I totally agree that she has a unique style of her own, which is highly original and will not be found anywhere else. From my knowledge of marketing tactics, she is one of the best people who really knows how to be catch people’s attention. This is a gifted talent that not everyone possesses, as she is capable of presenting herself in as a powerful and famous figure in the music market.

i-phone creates other business market

February 4th, 2011 by mikaellee83
Respond

Apple is one of the most influential company in the mobile industry. One of their most successful products is i-phone. Whenever i-phone is released in new version, it becomes a hot icon among consumers and a lot of people want to buy and want to use it.

Apple still makes profit ever since the first launch of its original version.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12221931

Ever since i-phone has been huge success over the period, new business market has began to emerge.

People started to feel bored of the same style and the default design of i-phone, so they started to change into their own styles, such as changing its cover or consuming iphone accessories.

This phenomenon proves that apple had  motived new markets to emerge. Markets featuring self-design or “tuning” has dramatically increased over the years along with the growth of iphone market.

Even Louis Vitton had customized its own iphone case.

I am also user of iphone since released latest version.

I did not understand why people could not stop obsessing about iphone when I used the regular phone.

Since I started to use Iphone, i am really satisfied to use the smartphone and I totally understand why people are cheered  about this product.

Hyundai leaping in sales in US and China by image marketing

January 27th, 2011 by mikaellee83

Hyundai Motors, which is one of the biggest car corporations in South Korea, tries to improve its brand image, so it has been investing more in design and performance than before. Its efforts include hiring a car designer who previously worked in Audi, a well-known German automobile company that is popular among drivers who seek for sleek design. It began to increase its revenue and improve its brand image abroad, especially in US and China. For quite a while, Hyundai was famous and known as a low-end car company because it was mainly targeting at lower-income consumers. However, Hyundai have been changing its consumer target as it grew into a more luxurious brand with higher performance. Nowadays, Hyundai’s products have been awarded as one of the most safe and efficient cars in the world as well.

It just came up in my mind that in the future, people will be proud to drive Hyundai’s luxurious-looking cars.

Burberry fashion group sees sales jump

January 20th, 2011 by mikaellee83
Respond

Recently, Burberry has adopted a new price strategy, which is that they do not discount their core products. It seems like they are very successful within the market during the last 3 months of 2010. This strategy is already adopted by other brands, like Channel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton.  It has already been proved to be effective in promoting their luxury brand image, and this strategy never failed in the market. However, it is not easy to build on their brand value rapidly, such as creating value, which is key point of marketing. Once the brand name is settled in market, the price strategy, such as the one used by Burberry, can be very effective in building brand name stronger. This resulted in increasing revenue, like Burberry has been experiencing nowadays. As a result, people want to consume products that are shown to be a symbol of high quality. Only certain group of people can handle this price, and this fact can incur stronger satisfaction as price goes up.
