English 12: useful tips for MLA & paragraph

Posted by in English 12

**Paragraph: make sure you have a FOCUS point in your paragraph. I don’t want a poet’s entire life story. Remember the PEE structure for the paragraph. Don’t forget your introduction and conclusion.

Works cited page: Your sources will probably all be left aligned. To get the “hanging indent”, go to paragraph (I usually right click and go down to paragraph). Under indentation, select “hanging indent” from the drop down menu. Press enter. If your work isn’t appearing in the right format, remove any formatting that might be on the text.

To get your last name on the top right corner of the page, click on the header and type in your name.

To get the page number on the top right corner of the page, look for “page numbers” under the format menu on MS Word.

You might have to play around a little to get everything looking right. I know MLA is very difficult, but do your best- I’m not expecting perfection, I’m looking for effort 🙂
