Twitter chapter summaries

Chapter 1: This chapter is mostly an introduction to the present central characters, such as Scout, Jem and Dill, as well as the Radley House.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 talks about Scout’s first day of school and her conflict with Miss Caroline.

Chapter 3: This chapter highlights the differences between the people of Macomb, and what Scout thinks of them.

Chapter 4: In this chapter, school ends for Jem and scout, which continue their ongoing interest with Dill on Boo Radley.

Chapter 5: As Jem and Dill get closer, Scout feels left out which she starts spending time with Miss Maudie. Meanwhile Jem and Dill plan to ask Boo Radley out.

Chapter 6: 

Chapter 7: Second grade begins, Jem tells Scout that he found the pants folded over the fence. And they find a grey ball of twine in the knothole.

Chapter 8: Is about the night that Miss Maudie’s house catches on fire. Although Scout, Jem and neighbours stop the fire. Miss Maudie’s house still burns to the ground. After that, Jem tells his father everything happened in Boo Radley’s place.

Chapter 9: At school, Scout starts a fight with Cecil Jacobs, after Cecil says that Atticus defends blacks. Atticus has to defend a black man accused of raping a white woman. Atticus tells Scout that violence is not the answer. During Christmas, Scout beats up Francis, her cousin, because he called Atticus a black lover. Scout later hears Atticus saying that the black man he is defending is innocent, but doomed.

Chapter 10: This chapter basically describes Scout’s father Atticus. Scout tells a story about Atticus that no one shot a mad dog and how good is his shooting skill.

Chapter 11: Paying for his curiosity directed at Dubose’s flowers, Jem and Scout read to her util her eventual, blissful death beholden to nobody.

Chapter 12: Talked about the beginning of the summer. Scout and Jem went to the church of the Negroes with Calpurnia and got to know more about Calpurnia and the Church.

Chapter 13: Aunt Alexandra visits to provide the Finches with a motherly figure since their mom is dead, and we find out more about the family dynamics in their community.

Chapter 14: Aunt Alexandra came to Macomb for a visit. Dill ran away from his parents and Scout found him under her bed.

Chapter 15: After Dill gets to stay in Macomb with the Finch family, the trial of Tom Robinson starts to take place.

Chapter 16: Start of the trial. People from different cities and race all came to join this “Roman Carnival”.

Chapter 17: Mr. Tate says that on the night of Nov. 21, Bob Ewell brought him to the Ewell house, where he found Mr. Ewell’s daughter, who had been injured. When asked, she said Tom Robinson had done it, and when he asked her if Robisnon had raped her, she said yes.

Chapter 18:

Chapter 19: Thomas Robinson takes the witness stand to testify. He recounts his side of the story on that day. However, his story is quite different from the testimonies of Mayella Ewell.

Chapter 20: Dill and Scout met Mr. Dolphus and he gave Dill some cola. When they went back to the court, Atticus was having a speech.

Chapter 21: In chapter 21, Tom robinson is judged to be guilty of raping Mayella Ewell by juries.

Chapter 21: Cal informs Atticus that the children haven’t been home since noon. Mr. Underwood says they have been in the coloured balcony since 1:00. Jim is confident of victory. The jury delivers a guilty verdict, Atticus goes out and the coloured balcony rises in respect.

Chapter 23: Atticus grants even Ewell the respect of trying to understand his position.

Chapter 24: Dill was about to leave. Scout discussed and had snacks with aunty and her friends.
