*IMPORTANT* Project Revision and Rubrics

I have revised our project guidelines after many of you proposed to do videos, which was not originally not on the list.

Please carefully read the guidelines for your chosen project, and look over the checklist to make sure that you have all the required information.

On the day our project is due, March 1 (G) and March 2 (B), you also have to complete a self-assessment using the rubrics I have attached here. These are the exact same rubrics I will be using; your self-evaluations will be consulted when I grade your assignments.

Project Rubrics

Tues, Feb 16

Hi all! We finished talking about rhetorical appeals today and started thinking about the project. I would like you all to have decided on the option you will be working on, and let me know by next class.

The project will be due in on Tuesday, March 1. I am giving you two weeks to work on this, so please start early and not leave it til the last day.

As agreed upon, next class will be a work block for the project; make sure you bring something to work on.

Advertisement Project

Wed, Feb 10

Hi class, today we analyzed many examples of advertisements on social media and reflected on the impact these ads have on us. Since all of our book talk presenters were, coincidentally, absent today, there will be 6 book talks next class.

homework: please bring to class an advertisement of your choice

Thu, Feb 4

Hello class, great discussions today!

Today we watched the first 20 minutes of “Generation Like” and discussed the extent to which “likes” affect us and our self-image.

Regarding the paragraph assignment, I heard from Ms. Stancombe that you just read Brave New World and talked about the dangers of technology. If this is something you would like to tie into your paragraph, feel free to do so 🙂

Assignment is attached below, it is due on Feb 10th.

Have a great long weekend!

Generation Like Paragraph

Tues, Feb 2

Hi everyone,

Today we talked about what it means to be media literate, and played a Kahoot game surveying our social media use. As discussed in class, my office hours will be every Monday from 3:15-4:30. If that time does not work for you, feel free to set up an appointment with me for a different time.

For those of you who were absent, I have attached a list of questions that were in the Kahoot game. Note: this is not for homework; it’s just for you to check out.
