Hello to everyone reading!

This is my first time writing and publishing a blog post. I’ve never considered blogging prior to this, but here goes…

To start off, just a little bit about me:

I was born In China and immigrated to Canada at a young age. I feel genuinely blessed to be a part of two vastly different cultures, both of which have helped shape the person I am today as well as my values and outlook on life. Besides English, I’m fluent in Cantonese and can understand conversational Mandarin and French.

I’m an avid traveller. For my most recent travel this summer, a few friends and I went on a 3-week trip to Japan, stopping in Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, and Osaka. From the food, sights, to its hospitality culture—everything was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I did not want to leave by the end!

I’m a self-diagnosed drama addict (and movie buff). You are too? Let’s talk!

Favourite drama: Reply 1988

Favourite movie: The Shawshank Redemption

Favourite director: Christopher Nolan

Why Arts One?

What first drew me to the program were its teaching/learning structure and its theme-based focus on the humanities. However, it was the course material (which includes an exciting array of novels, comics, texts, films, etc.) as well as the prospect of coming out as a better writer that had me convinced.

I’m nervous and excited for the upcoming year—nervous about the unknown and excited to learn with others who share common academic interests. I hope that we can all emerge as better writers and critical thinkers.

Cheers to the year ahead!
