Social Media and me?!?!

I’m Molly. I’m currently in my second year at SLAIS. I just finished up an eight month co-op which dealt mostly with records management-type things. I’m glad to be back in the wonderful world of libraries and also intrigued by themes presented by this class.

I love social media–I can’t decide if that’s a good or a bad thing. Facebook was my first foray into the world of social media.

I then ventured into Instagram. I remember one of my friends told me they thought Instagram was better than Facebook because it was more “intimate”. I laughed at that at the time but now I’m seriously pondering the two mediums and how one can seem more cool and personal and one is vapid and boring.

Anyway,  I love Twitter, as well. I set up an account in college but now Im using it to connect to Librarians all over the world. It’s so cool! I have a hard time with the medium–only 140 characters to express myself?! But I like how it makes my brain feel.

I used to love Pinterest but have grown VERY disillusioned with it. I don’t really like the image of womanhood it presents and subtly demands of its users. But that’s just me.

I have tried to get into Tumblr, but much like Taylor Swift (she just started managing her  Tumblr account, not someone she hired) I have NO idea what’s going on or how it works. I have set up simple Tumblrs for places I volunteer for….But it took me six hours to do very basic things (please don’t judge me).
