Summary

My portfolio includes two videos made by myself and six photographs taken by myself. The first video is about Hong Kong, which is the first video entirely made by myself. Previously, I used Adobe Premiere to practice video editing. But for this video, I used an app called Final Cut Pro to edit and synthesize it. Last October, it was the first time my mother and I went to Hong Kong together, so I tried to record our trip and experience. At first, I just wanted to capture the happy moments of family reunion. When I got home, I realized I could use these short videos to make a combined one. That’s how my first video was made. The other video is about Nanjing, the city I have lived for eleven years. I made this video this January for my Canadian friend Olivia who has never been to China, but she was very interested in Chinese traditional culture. I went to some famous historical scenic spots in Nanjing, like Confucius Temple and Ming Tomb, and transcribed some videos to show some Chinese cultural elements. The last sample is the six photos I took. I love to capture unnoticed or dynamic things, and I think even the smallest thing also has the right to be recorded and remembered, and dynamic things are very hard to capture, so I love the feeling that turning dynamic things into a motionless one. What’s more, I prefer to discover beauty of things from a specific and different perspective.
