Complicity Canvas

The complicity canvas was a subtle political gesture that acknowledged institutional and individual implications in systemic violence and unsustainability. The canvas was painted by artists and UBC alumnae Noelle Lee and Kyra Royo Fay and auctioned at the event where we launched the report Moving With Storms on June 26, 2023.

The painting is titled Wealth Creation and Accumulation and is accompanied by the following text:  “expropriation, land theft, dispossession, destitution, slavery, discrimination, gentrification, exclusion, militarization, surveillance, police brutality, genocides, ecocides, climate destabilization, biodiversity apocalypse, humanity on a path of premature extinction.”
