Guess what? You get to play the Taliban in EA’s new Medal of Honor Game!

The Taliban.. which you get to play as!

In Electronic Art’s new 1st person shooter, people all around the world will have the privilege of playing the Taliban. Even though the game is rated as Mature (meaning only 18+ people can purchase it), many young teens will find a way to obtain this new game. Is this ethically right for EA to release a game that could potentially sway teens and adults to sympathize with the Taliban in order to earn a pretty penny? Clearly, British Defense Secretary Liam Fox does not, stating that “It’s hard to believe any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to … ban this tasteless product.” As well, the sale of Metal of Honor has been banned on U.S. military sites.

So does this new Medal of Honor game actually have no honor? Personally, I think it is fine for EA to release this game. One definition for the word game is: “an amusement or pastime”. Also, there is always a good guy and a bad guy in every war game. This game is just basically synonymous with most other war games out there. And the funny thing is, all this buzz around this game just made EA’s marketing team a whole lot easier.

From: EAs Marketing team To: Liam Fox and anyone else publicly rebuking the game. Thank you for the free advertisement!
