Zappos’ put into perspective

Zappos is an online shoe store that as a company has a unique organizational culture. Its employees communicate effectively and pleasantly with their customers, to the extent of interacting with them on a personal basis. Moreover, customers may enjoy the fact that they are entitled to exchange their product within 360 days.

However, working for Zappos does not come easy. Employees undergo vigorous customer training in order to provide its customer base with exceptional service. Potential candidates who do not feel that they are suited for the enthusiastic and vibrant customer service team are also offered cash to leave the business.

On the other hand, employees are entitled to plenty fringe benefits such as free food and drinks as well as recreational activities. Hence, by keeping employees happy it reduces employee absenteeism and turnover and encourages loyalty. Thus it is evident that creating a positive working environment for its employees is but a driving force to be a profitable business.
