Week 5 – Task 5

Task 5: Twine Task

Reflection

For this task, I wanted to create something practical and engaging for my students in my role as a Technology Learning Coach. A major focus of my work recently has been helping students leverage AI effectively to enhance their learning. I saw this as an opportunity to develop a useful tool that would actively engage students in learning how to use AI both ethically and responsibly.

Over the last year, I have been developing AI Guidelines and Policy documents for my school. These resources are available on our school’s website here: YIS AI in the Classroom.

With the help of ChatGPT, I have created a Twine-based interactive experience that takes students through a series of real-life, school-based AI use scenarios. In each scenario, students must make a choice—some decisions may be obvious, while others require deeper reflection. The goal is for students to identify and select the most ethical and responsible AI practices in their learning.

Designing the Twine experience was both enjoyable and thought-provoking. It required me to carefully craft the scenarios, develop meaningful response options, and make formatting choices to ensure clarity and ease of use. One frustration was that I was unable to embed images directly into Twine—I would have liked to include more visual examples. Additionally, I struggled to integrate the Twine seamlessly into my blog without requiring users to download a separate file.

Overall, Twine has proven to be an excellent tool that highlights the power of hyperlinked storytelling and reflects key principles of the Xanadu Project, which recognized that human thinking is non-linear and benefits from interactive, interconnected pathways beyond traditional text-based learning.
